Shipping rate adjustments…

Due to the evolving nature of shipping things around the world, affected by labour disputes, fuel costs, border controls etc, thus occasionally costs move up or down. Once in a while, everything uniformly moves in one direction. More often than not, different tiers of package sizes and weights change independently of each other. Now is one of those times.

Small to medium sized packages heading to the United States are now a few bucks cheaper, but larger sizes, and let’s say medium-heavy packages costs increased somewhat. Most of the change is in the 5-10 lbs or 2-5 kgs range. Purely from an observational standpoint, none of the changes make sense. When gas prices fell precipitously, shipping costs should have fallen in unison, but didn’t, and while fuel costs are still far below where they were previously, some shipping costs have increased yet again.

There are some ongoing systemic risks still to play out however. Canadapost has given notice for strike action, meaning they have the right to strike, but have not initiated the action. USPS also seems to be suffering from regional service disruptions, which has caused several shipments to wander far away from their intended destination, after reaching the nearest sortation facility.

Unfortunately, unexpected time delays are part of the cost of doing business, they are not in our control as producers or consumers. Where there is specific foreknowledge (for example strike action) of potential problems, other delivery carriers will be employed where possible.

The net effect of this is some combo kits will now have higher shipping costs, such as the newly posted 300ZX Adjustable tension-rod + Control-arm conversion kit, and the lower end of that scale, like the 300ZX/Q45 upright adapters will creep upward slightly.

Contrarily, smaller packages, such as wheel studs, will have lower shipping costs. This should make 20-packs of studs more affordable, and other similarly light packages.

Larger kits like 300ZX/200SX Trailing arm conversion kits remain unchanged.
